The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has gotten its biggest single gift for the performing arts, with a $12 million enrichment to the college’s PlayMakers Repertory Company and Department of Dramatic Art.
News outlets report the college declared the donation from Chapel Hill donor Joan H. Gillings on Monday. The gift will be equally divided amongst PlayMakers and the division, and the Center for Dramatic Art will bear Gillings’ name.
Gillings is the seat of the PlayMakers Advistory Council and says the gift was conceived out adoration for the Playmakers, as opposed to naming rights.
The cash will be paid in three portions. Division of Dramatic Art seat Adam Versenyi says the financing will help manufacture supportable projects and dispatch projects to expand group effort and assorted variety.
